The purpose of the Friends of the East Atlanta Library (FEAL) is to support the East Atlanta library branch: focusing public attention on the library and its resources, programs, volunteers, and legislative needs. As a nonprofit organization, we offer a way for patrons and supporters to give donations and bequests that directly benefit the East Atlanta library.
We support the East Atlanta library with funds for children and adult programs (that are free to the public), artist/author exhibit space and receptions, summer reading program and supplies, other necessary supplies and equipment that are not in the FCLS budget, and staff recognition and hospitality for special days or holidays.

We had a great time celebrating our 20th year of this location of the East Atlanta Library and the Summer Reading program with so many friends from the community! Thanks to our board members and other volunteers who helped make this possible! We raised over $1,500 plus added a few new Friends to our roster! We gave out over 100 delicious popsicles, received some beautiful art creations, admired some lovely painted faces, watched happy, bouncing children and sold over 700 books to raise money for programs at the East Atlanta Library!
Help us to continue supporting programming, providing supplies and funding new books by becoming a FRIEND and donate today!

Reading & Buying Books
We're very excited to share that the FEAL Book Fund, made possible from the 2023 East Atlanta Strut Grant, has been put into action! The FEAL Board approved up to $5,000 to be spent on book purchases for the shelves at the East Atlanta Library. The first order of 178 books was placed in March - mostly children's books, a few middle grade and children's books in Spanish! Books are hitting the shelves and will continue until the order is filled by the book seller!
Look for the sticker inside "A Gift From FEAL: Friends of East Atlanta Library" (with our new logo)! Thanks to the East Atlanta Branch Manager for placing the first order to get it started and we can't wait to see what other books are added to the collection! Help us to continue supporting programming and funding new books by becoming a FRIEND and donate today!
It was a packed house for the Burgess Peterson Academy (BPA) Student Art Exhibit on March 11, 2026! These young artists had some incredible pieces of art — what talent! The art was displayed throughout the month of March for Youth Art Month. Thank you to Nancy Mullins BPA Librarian and FEAL Board member for organizing, BPA Art Teacher-Dr Resler for inspiring great works of art from the BPA students, Beverly Turner FEAL board member for a delicious spread and the kids of BPA for showing their creativity! And thanks to the FEAL board members who volunteered and unanimously approved to support this event!
This event was hosted and sponsored by the Friends of East Atlanta Library.
We're so excited to be recipients of a $6,000 grant from the East Atlanta Strut from 2023 Strut! We are so excited about this increased grant - we have increased program support and created a NEW EAB Book Fund to add books to our branch collection. Thank you for supporting the East Atlanta library branch and its patrons! You're awesome! Thanks to our President, Shannon Sanders for applying for the grant again!

A huge “Best Wishes” to Ms. Patrica Davis-Daniel who is retiring after 39 years (30 at our branch) of library services! We had a wonderful time celebrating with her on October 5, 2023. More about Ms. Pat below.
————————————————————
Ms. Davis-Daniel started in August 1984 at the Alpharetta Branch and has worked at several locations including Ponce and Kirkwood. Of her 39 years, nearly 30 have been serving the community of East Atlanta! Ms. Davis-Daniel is known for high touch and highly personal delivery of customer service which has kept us open many times after library hours. But that is just the level of attention she gives everyone, from the first person to the last one will be given the same courtesy and respect. The community she serves will miss her smile and warm greetings as we will as well.
Our Friends Book Store is OPEN for business! It's easy - once you find a book you want to purchase, scan the QR code on your mobile from the sign and pay! Simple. Books are $2 - $3. And feel free to add a little extra to your purchase! It's our fundraiser!
Also visit our Book Sale Cart at Joe's Coffee Shop in the East Atlanta Village and support us there too while you grab a cup of Joe!
If you have any questions, please email us.
Please note, the library branch cannot accept payments for these purchases.
As the branch opened to in-person services, the Friends of the East Atlanta Library (FEAL) purchased a new book drop located in the lobby of the branch to make it easy for patrons to drop their checked-out books in the lobby before entering the library and allow for social distancing.
FEAL continues to support the library and staff throughout the year. We typically provide a holiday staff lunch towards the end of the year and an appreciation brunch during Library Workers Appreciation Week.
